Yes. TypeHangul is typed with a real Korean input method (IME), not by clicking. Almost every operating system includes one for free; the home page links to setup guides for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. Once it is installed, switch your keyboard to Korean and type.
Start with our keyboard practice page. It explains the one rule behind every Korean syllable — a consonant, then a vowel, then an optional final consonant — and lets you practise on real words before you play.
Yes, completely free. There is no account, no sign-up, and nothing to download. The game runs in your web browser and is supported by ads shown around the game — never during play.
It runs on phones and tablets, but it plays best on a desktop or laptop with a physical keyboard, where speed matters most. On mobile the on-screen Korean keyboard works, though the smaller screen and slower typing make for a tougher game.
Your score is the number of characters you successfully type, multiplied by your current combo. Keeping a clean streak going multiplies your points, and a single miss resets the combo. Difficult words do not give bonus points — they just appear more often later on.
Those are item words. Typing one triggers a special effect — clearing the screen, freezing words, slowing the fall, adding a life, and more. Words swept away by an item do not add to your score, so the item word itself is what counts. The full list of twelve items is on the home page.
When a game ends with a high enough score, you can submit a short nickname to the global TOP 100 leaderboard. Submitting is optional. We store only your nickname, score, survival time, and the band you reached — see our privacy policy for details.
